CELTIC FANS have been waiting since the end of February for Celtic to appoint a new permanent manager of the club. Most of last season was a write-off and when Neil Lennon finally did leave the building, we got more of the same from John Kennedy, soundly beaten against our rivals and knocked out of the Scottish Cup.

Fans are desperate for some good news and we believe that starts with the appointment of the new manager. It’s the worst kept secret in Scottish football, but everyone is expecting Eddie Howe to be the next full-time Celtic manager.

RecordSport reported earlier this week the whole reason we’re still waiting on that appointment is because of red tape at Bournemouth.

Eddie is due a sizeable bonus from his contract if Bournemouth gets promoted back to the English Premier League. Their participation in the playoffs means we don’t yet know if that will be the case.

The English club played their first playoff game on Monday evening, winning 1-0 against Brentford.

I believe a lot of Celtic fans are set to tune into the second leg this Saturday at 12:30pm.

If Brentford manage to overturn a 1-0 defeat from the first leg and knock out Bournemouth from the competition – it would pave the way for Celtic to appoint their man.

If Eddie’s old club get the win, then we roll on until the end of May, with the final scheduled for the 29th.

  1. I just dont get it.
If Howe is the man why have we wasted months? He should have been in the door preparing for next season and our Champions League campaign.
Whatever his supposed bonus is, why doesnt Desmond, one of the richest men in Europe, step in and pay it?

  2. Trouble is we don’t know what is happening behind the scenes. Hopefully when there is an appointment Celtic will come out and explain their silence. It’s not asking a lot.
