ALEX NEIL has thankfully distanced himself from the full time Celtic job after the Scotsman appeared in the betting for the position in the summer.

The former Hamilton, Norwich and current Preston boss was linked with Celtic back in 2016 also before the board brought Brendan Rodgers to the club. Even back then it was a stretch for Neil to get the job and his stock was much higher at that time.

Celtic are looking for their new full time manager which could still be Neil Lennon come the summer depending on how things unfold in the coming months.

There has been a lot of talks around several candidates and whoever takes the job now will be the man who Celtic fans put their hopes on for bringing ten in a row to fruition but it won’t be Alex Neil.

“When I was at Norwich I was linked with the Rangers job and now this.” Neil told SunSport.

“It is rare to be linked with Celtic and Rangers because people like to think you are one or the other.

“I have no thoughts about moving club or anything like that.

“I am the Preston manager and I am enjoying my time here and we have a lot of scope to improve. Being the boss here has my full focus.

“I don’t look at the speculation in the papers or social media. I get made aware of it but sometimes I find it funny more than anything else.

“I will just crack on with my job here.”

Celtic fans will be delighted Alex is not in the running. Neil Lennon and Marco Rose seem to be the popular choices among fans.

  1. What hoops need is a continental manager to make celts better in Europe Ajax r a good example as they don’t have a lot of money and aren’t as big as Celtic what they did to real Madrid was no fluke either couldn’t have been more
