BRENDAN RODGERS gave his verdict and insight into Celtic’s current financial situation after the club’s interim results were published this week.

The Celtic manager was asked a bit of a leading question when a journalist asked if he was happy Celtic had £38million plus banked or if he was annoyed some of that wasn’t given to him for more quality in his team.

“It doesn’t do either really,” the Irishman told CelticTV

“I’ve loved my time here, my job is to develop players, add value and win because that’s the vision you need to have as a Celtic manager.

“When I came here a few years ago the stands were not full and over the last two and a half years we all collectively have put the club in a really good position. They are in the black which is great. In modern football that can be tough.

“There is great value in the squad and of course I always want the best players we can possibly get and I’ve always pushed. But I have to respect the situation the club is in.

“However, in every way the club is in a healthy position and of course that makes me happy.”

Celtic fans will love this response as the journalist asking the question was hoping for one way or another. The manager played it straight down the line.

Yes, he would like more cash if possible to get the very best player sin, but he understands the situation at the club and what he was brought here to do. The Celtic manager has brought on so much young talent in his two and a half year stay here with Callum McGregor being one of his top players at this moment in time.

The Celtic manager will always strive to push for players he think will be value for money for Celtic, but he also sees the value in the young talent available to him.
