Liel Abada’s surprise return to Glasgow has quickly sparked speculation among Celtic supporters after a local restaurant shared details of the former winger’s visit on social media.
Bella Vita Glasgow posted an Instagram message welcoming Abada back to the city while thanking him for visiting during what appears to be a short break from football in the United States.
The post immediately caught attention online because Abada has kept a relatively low profile since leaving Celtic for Charlotte FC in 2024. His time in Glasgow ended under difficult circumstances off the pitch, but many supporters still remember how effective he was during Ange Postecoglou’s side at its best.
Abada scored important goals in title races, derby matches and European nights during his spell at Celtic.
His movement off the right side suited the team perfectly at the time. He attacked space quickly, arrived inside the box naturally and regularly punished teams that left room behind their full-backs. Even during quieter performances, he remained dangerous because of how direct his game was.

Naturally, the rumour mill started moving almost immediately once supporters realised Abada was back in Glasgow.
In reality, a Celtic return looks extremely unlikely at this stage.
Birmingham City and Norwich City are among several English clubs showing interest in Abada ahead of the summer window. A move back to the UK does appear possible, but the Championship currently looks far more realistic than a return to Parkhead.
Charlotte FC are currently out of action until July 23, which leaves Abada with a long break before his next match. He was also not included in the latest Israel squad, giving him even more time away during the summer period.
That probably explains why he has returned to Scotland briefly.
There is also the football side to consider.
Celtic’s squad has changed massively since Abada left. Still, seeing him back in Glasgow will bring back good memories for many supporters.
At his best, he was one of the sharpest attackers Celtic had during the early Postecoglou years and played a major part in some huge results at Parkhead.
Ain’t happening
Great Celtic player would love to see him back but it is not going to happen.
Brings back memories of Ange and what he achieved. He did unite the club, hopefully MoN can too.
Sadly the moronic group of fans who’s persecution chased him away just because he was an Israeli, will always prevent that return.

Abada wasnt chased away by Celtic fans. The stadium cheered and welcomed him onto the park.
He left because of pressures from his homeland and the abuse directed at his family.
That came from the fans stance on a genocide that was played out daily on screen.
