Celtic’s dramatic injury-time winner against Motherwell in midweek proved absolutely massive in the context of the Premiership title battle.

With the game deep into stoppage time at Fir Park, referee John Beaton was sent to the monitor by VAR Andrew Dallas after Motherwell’s Sam Nicholson was judged to have handled the ball inside the box following an aerial challenge with Trusty.

After reviewing the incident, Beaton pointed to the spot and Kelechi Iheanacho converted the penalty to hand Celtic a vital victory.

The decision sparked huge debate.

Many argued the ball may have come off Nicholson’s head, while others insisted the handball call was correct. Either way, the late penalty completely changed the complexion of the title race.

Had Celtic drawn that match, Hearts would have gone into yesterday’s showdown at Celtic Park knowing they could lose by two goals and still become champions for the first time since 1960.

Instead, Celtic entered the final day knowing any victory would secure the title – and Martin O’Neill’s side delivered with a dramatic 3-1 win.

Now one Celtic supporter has gone viral after hilariously referencing the Fir Park controversy during the title celebrations.

The fan was spotted outside Celtic Park wearing a homemade costume featuring a paper hand attached to his head in reference to the disputed incident involving Trusty and Nicholson.

The image quickly spread across social media and eventually reached Trusty himself.

The Celtic defender responded after seeing the picture online with a series of laughing emojis, clearly enjoying the joke as supporters celebrated Celtic’s dramatic title triumph.
