Celtic supporters hoping for a larger allocation at McDiarmid Park next season may be facing disappointment.
St Johnstone have enjoyed a tremendous response to season ticket sales following their immediate return to the Premiership, and the numbers are edging them closer to a target that could significantly reduce the number of tickets available to visiting Celtic fans.
The Perth club stormed to the Championship title at the first attempt after relegation and have carried that momentum into the summer.
Supporters have clearly bought into the project, with St Johnstone announcing they have already sold more than 2,000 season tickets.

That puts them well over halfway towards their stated target of 3,800.
Why does that matter to Celtic supporters?
Earlier this summer, St Johnstone revealed plans to allocate three stands to Celtic supporters for league matches at McDiarmid Park.
The proposal sparked a significant backlash from sections of the home support, who argued too much of their stadium was being handed over to away fans.
In response, the club promised to review the situation based on season ticket uptake.
Their position was clear: if they hit the 3,800 season ticket target, Celtic would only receive two stands rather than three.
With sales already surpassing the 2,000 mark and plenty of time remaining before the campaign begins, that target now looks increasingly realistic.
Should St Johnstone fall short, seats in the additional stand originally earmarked for home supporters could still be reallocated to Celtic fans.
However, as things stand, the momentum appears to be moving in the opposite direction.
Celtic fans who like to travel with the team will be keeping a close eye on season ticket sales in Perth over the coming weeks.
The stronger St Johnstone’s numbers become, the more likely it is that away allocations will be reduced when Martin O’Neill’s side make the trip north next season.
