Benjamin Nygren has given little away on his Celtic future after being asked about fresh transfer talk in Sweden.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a superb campaign in green and white, hitting 15 league goals and setting up five more while operating from an advanced midfield role.
That sort of return was always going to attract attention. Reports in his homeland claim Premier League clubs are monitoring the Swede after his standout season at Celtic.
Nygren was asked about those links, but he did not offer much either way.
He said: (Radiosporten), “We’ll see what happens.”
It was a short answer, but one that leaves the door slightly open.
Celtic will not want this to become a summer saga. Nygren has quickly become a key part of the side, bringing goals from midfield and giving the attack another player capable of making the difference around the box.
After a season like that, the club should be building around him rather than preparing for life without him.
The timing would be the biggest issue. Selling Nygren now would leave Celtic needing to replace a major attacking contributor at a point when the squad should be getting stronger, not thinner.
There is no suggestion at this stage that a deal is close. Nygren is focused on international duty, and Celtic have not indicated they are looking to sell.
Still, his answer will keep the speculation ticking along.
Supporters will hope the next update is simple enough: Nygren staying at Celtic and picking up where he left off.
