Benjamin Nygren has acknowledged his recognition at Celtic’s Player of the Year awards, taking to social media after picking up three honours on the night.
The Swede was named Men’s Player of the Year, Men’s Players’ Player of the Year, and Men’s Top Goalscorer, capping off a campaign where his numbers have carried real weight.
Nygren has 20 goals and eight assists from 54 appearances in all competitions. In a season where consistency across the squad has been patchy, those figures stand out.
He has posted on Instagram, making it clear where his focus still lies.
It is a message that lands at a crucial point. Celtic have three league games left, are three points off Hearts, and have a Scottish Cup final looming on 23 May.
Nygren’s impact has not gone unquestioned. There have been spells where he drifts out of matches, leaving frustration among supporters who expect more influence across the full 90 minutes.
At the same time, it is difficult to ignore the output. Strip away his goals and assists, and Celtic’s position looks far less comfortable.
That contrast has defined much of his season. Productive on paper, but not always convincing in the flow of games.
He arrived from FC Nordsjaelland last July on a five-year deal, a move that now looks shrewd from a club perspective. With that contract length, Celtic hold the leverage if interest turns concrete in the summer.
Fabrizio Romano has already reported that several clubs are tracking Nygren ahead of the next window. That is no surprise given the numbers, even if the performances split opinion.
For now, speculation can wait.
Celtic need points, not projections. Nygren has delivered when it comes to the end product, but the final weeks demand more than moments.
