The debate around Celtic’s next manager continues, and Robbie Keane has received support from former Republic of Ireland teammate Andy Townsend.
Keane remains one of the names strongly linked with the vacancy as Celtic weigh up their options for next season. Martin O’Neill is also under consideration after leading the club to a league and cup double, but reports suggest Keane remains firmly in the running.
The former Celtic striker has built a growing reputation in management over the past few years. After winning the league title with Maccabi Tel Aviv, he followed that up with success at Ferencvaros, adding another championship to his CV.
Those achievements have helped strengthen his case for a move to Parkhead.
Townsend knows Keane well from their time together with Ireland and believes his fellow countryman has the qualities needed to succeed in Glasgow.
He said: (TCW), “I could see Robbie Keane being a success at Celtic, he’d bring all his energy in there and I could see him being a natural successor for Martin.
“He’d be the best bet for them, he has a real appetite and a real excitement around him. He oozes that determination to be a success and I could see that really working at Celtic.
“They could have a big call to make this summer but I think that would be the right one, should Martin O’Neill move on.
“Robbie has really found excitement in management. He seems excited at the prospect of his future in football management because he had a very good career as a player, he’s gonna get some exceptional opportunities come his way. He’s put himself out there now, he’s available. There will be a lot of jobs available for him.”
Townsend’s comments come at a time when Celtic are still assessing their next move. Keane’s record in management is not as extensive as some other candidates, but he has won trophies in both Israel and Hungary.

That said, Keane has shown an ability to handle pressure. His teams have generally played on the front foot and his recent success has brought him into conversations for bigger jobs.
For now, Celtic’s decision remains outstanding. What is clear is that Keane has support from people who have worked closely with him, and Townsend believes the former striker has the drive and personality to make the step up if the opportunity arrives.

get the hamas flag holder out or to his alloted seat im sure anywhere but but that area supporters wouldnt allow it these arent Celtic supporters feelings the put up support against the blockade before the true story went to press now these anurchist not Celtic Supports not many but well organised I doubt they Could name the lineup for last game and if Keane is named boss he will get a big welcome or if we sign a world class Israeli he would get a great welcome cause we are a football team not a media outlet for anichrist to get notice on camara and the Scottish media keep focusing on one or two flags when it stops us signing people that will benefit Celtic time for us to let these people know
You write as if there is something not fully functioning with you. I’ll assume that’s also why you ate in favour of the moral vacuum, Robbie Keane, even being considered for the paost of Celtic manager. Get well soon!
