Kieron Bowie Celtic Transfer Reports Addressed

CeltsAreHere understands Celtic have not registered any interest in Kieron Bowie, despite fresh reports linking the club with the Hellas Verona striker.

The Scotland international has been mentioned as a possible target as Martin O’Neill looks to add more attacking options this summer, but there has been no contact from Celtic at this stage.

That is the clearest position as things stand.

Reports in Italy have claimed Celtic are among the clubs looking at Bowie, with Bologna, Cagliari and Sassuolo also said to be monitoring the 23-year-old.

However, the price being quoted would appear to make any move difficult.

Verona are reportedly looking for around £13million for Bowie, despite only signing him from Hibernian for approximately £5.5million six months ago.

That is a huge rise in value over a very short period.

Bowie did make a positive impression in Serie A, scoring four goals in 14 appearances after moving to Italy in January. He found the net against Inter Milan, Juventus, Torino and Bologna, even though Verona were eventually relegated.

His performances have clearly raised his profile, and Verona are in a strong position with the player still under contract.

Even so, a £13million asking price looks well beyond what Celtic would realistically pay for another striker this summer.

The club have already spent on Camilo Durán, and further additions are still needed in other areas of the squad.

Bowie may fit the profile in some ways. He is young, Scottish, has experience abroad and has shown he can score against strong opposition.

But at the figure currently being discussed, the deal does not look realistic.

There is also no indication that Celtic have opened talks or made any approach to Verona.

That means the latest reports should be treated with caution.

Bowie is attracting interest after a promising spell in Italy, but the £13million valuation is a major obstacle and, for now, CeltsAreHere understands Celtic have not registered any interest in the striker.
