Celtic have been linked with a host of names during this transfer window, but none have come to fruition as things stand. Now, a Premier League club have reportedly joined the race for one of the names linked with a move to Glasgow.
Callum Wilson looks set to become a free agent in this window as he prepares to rip up his contract at relegation-threatened West Ham. The 33-year-old has a wealth of experience playing in England at Coventry, Bournemouth and Newcastle, but looks set to be on the hunt for his third club in a year.
The Hoops are one of the clubs tipped for Wilson’s signature, and on a free contract, it seems a decent move. He’s fallen down the pecking order at the Hammers, having scored just four goals in 18 appearances this season.
According to the Daily Record, Everton have joined the race to become Wilson’s next destination. If true, it seems unlikely that the nine-time capped England international would opt for a move north of the border over an established Premier League club.
Wilson would likely act as cover up front for David Moyes‘ side, whereas at Celtic, he’d see his minutes increased. His injury worries have fans questioning whether he’d be a valuable asset, especially given the growing injury list Martin O’Neill‘s side has faced this season.
