Celtic have officially confirmed the signing of Camilo Duran, with the Colombian striker becoming the club’s first arrival of the summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old joins from Qarabağ on a five-year deal in a move reported to be worth up to £6 million.
It is a signing that addresses an area Celtic needed to strengthen. With another campaign across multiple competitions on the horizon, fresh options in attack were always going to be a priority.
Duran arrives after an impressive season in Azerbaijan, scoring 15 goals and contributing 10 assists across all competitions. His record in Europe will also catch the eye.

Five of those goals came in the Champions League, finding the net against Newcastle, Eintracht Frankfurt twice, Ajax and Benfica. Producing on that stage is no guarantee of success in Glasgow, but it is the sort of pedigree Celtic will hope translates quickly.
Speaking after making the move to Glasgow, Duran sspoke of the “honour” of becoming Celtic’s first Colombian player ever. He said (Celtic FC):
“I’m very happy, it’s a dream come true to sign for a big club like Celtic, the biggest in Scotland, and I’m just excited to get going and score lots of goals.
“When I first heard of the interest there was absolutely no doubt in my mind and I’m just excited to get playing with the boys.
“It was a dream come true playing in the Champions League. That’s what you dream of as a kid, so to score goals was amazing and that’s what I want to continue doing here, scoring goals in the Champions League.
“I give it my all in every game, with a lot of effort and dedication, and hopefully the goals will come.
“It’s an honour to be the first Colombian to play for Celtic. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a kid (to play for my country) and I hope that being here at Celtic and working well, then one day that will become true.
“I’ve told the manager how happy I am to be here and that I will hopefully repay him with my performances. It’s a real honour to wear this jersey and I hope that this year we’ll be champions.”
There will be little time to settle before getting to work.
Duran has joined his new teammates in Portugal, where Martin O’Neill’s squad are continuing their pre-season training camp. He could soon get his first taste of life in green and white with a friendly against Sporting CP scheduled for July 14.
While Duran is the first new face through the door, the club’s business is not expected to stop there.
Martin O’Neill has confirmed Celtic are “definitely looking” in the market for another goalkeeper, underlining that further additions remain a priority before the new season gets underway.
O’Neill also revealed the club are in discussions with the representatives of Kelechi Iheanacho over extending his stay for next season.
That points to a busy few weeks ahead.
Celtic have made their first move of the summer by adding firepower up front, but there is still work to be done. Reinforcements are needed in several positions, and the expectation is that Duran will be the first of a number of arrivals before the transfer window closes.
