Chris Sutton believes Celtic will happily take the result after their 2-1 win over Aberdeen, even if the performance left plenty to be desired.
The Hoops travelled to Pittodrie knowing the pressure around the title race had not eased. The draw at Ibrox kept Celtic within reach, but results now carry extra meaning with the season moving into the business end.
The night started well for Celtic. Kieran Tierney opened the scoring early after reacting quickest inside the box from a corner. The goal gave the visitors control during the opening spell and forced Aberdeen to push further up the pitch.
Aberdeen found their way back into the match before the break. Liam Scales was judged to have fouled Toyosi Olusanya in the area and Kevin Nisbet converted the penalty. The game tightened after that moment, with both sides struggling to find rhythm.
The decisive goal came after the hour mark. James Forrest delivered a low cross into the six-yard box and Benjamin Nygren arrived to finish from close range. It proved enough to secure the points.
Sutton watched the match and gave his verdict shortly after full-time.

Viljami Sinisalo’s moment arrived early in the second half. Nisbet met a cross with a strong header that looked destined for the top corner. The goalkeeper reacted sharply and pushed the ball over the bar. It kept the score level at a stage where Aberdeen were growing into the match.
Daizen Maeda then had a chance to make the night easier for Celtic. Jack Milne slipped while trying to deal with a long ball, leaving the forward clear inside the box. The finish went wide when he had the goal at his mercy.
Benjamin Arthur’s display also stood out. The young defender stepped in after Dane Murray pulled up during the warm-up. Pittodrie can be an uncomfortable place for defenders, but Arthur handled the physical side of the game well and stayed composed in possession.
Celtic will not look back on this as a polished performance. The fixture schedule has been heavy and the game often felt slow. Yet the three points move them above Rangers in the table and keep the chase alive. With nine league matches left, every result now shapes how the title race unfolds.
