Celtic Set Luis Palma Deadline as €4m Transfer Standoff Emerges

Luis Palma’s future appears to have taken another turn, with fresh claims suggesting Celtic have reached the end of the road in negotiations with Lech Poznań.

The Honduran winger spent the season on loan with the Polish champions and enjoyed a productive campaign. Regular football helped Palma rebuild momentum after slipping down the pecking order at Celtic, and Lech have been keen to make the move permanent.


Talks between the clubs have been ongoing for some time. Reports in Poland have repeatedly suggested Lech wanted to keep Palma, but finding an agreement with Celtic has proven more difficult.

That now appears to have reached a breaking point.

Palma joined Celtic from Aris Thessaloniki in 2023 for around £3.5 million. While his time in Glasgow started brightly, including a memorable Champions League goal against Atletico Madrid, his future increasingly looks set to lie elsewhere.

If the report is accurate, Celtic’s position appears straightforward.

Rather than lowering their demands, the club are prepared to wait and see whether another buyer emerges. With Palma having enjoyed a strong year in Poland, there is a belief that interest from elsewhere could match the asking price.


The mention of Sevilla is also interesting. While there is no indication of a bid or formal talks, the Spanish side have now been linked with Palma more than once in recent days.

For Lech, the next move appears to be theirs. The winger played a key role during his loan spell and they have made little secret of their desire to keep him. The question now is whether they are prepared to meet Celtic’s valuation before the reported deadline passes.
