Felix Horn Myhre’s name has been linked with Celtic in recent months, and the Norwegian midfielder has now admitted he expects transfer interest to arrive this summer.
The Brann vice-captain was linked with Celtic earlier this year as the club looked at midfield options. A move never materialised, but his latest comments are likely to attract attention given his previous links to Parkhead.
At 27, Horn Myhre is no longer a player viewed as one for the future. He is entering the peak years of his career and has become one of the most dependable players in the Brann side. His energy in midfield, ability to cover ground and willingness to do the less glamorous side of the game have helped him establish himself at both club and international level.
That profile would make sense for Celtic.
The club already have quality in midfield, but there are questions around how the squad could look by the end of the transfer window. Celtic are also facing a season where a Champions League play-off will shape much of the campaign, meaning experience and reliability could carry extra value.
Horn Myhre has been thinking about his own future.
He said: (Adresseavisen),”I want to try something new at some point, but not at any cost. If something exciting comes along, I might want to.
“If not, I’m fine here. I think it will (happen this summer).
“I actually expect it. I have to deal with it when it comes.”
The comments do not amount to a transfer request. If anything, they show a player who is comfortable with his current situation but open to the right opportunity.
That could encourage clubs who have monitored him in recent months.
For Celtic, the timing is interesting. The club are still waiting to appoint a permanent manager, but recruitment work is continuing in the background. Midfield is not currently viewed as the most urgent area of the squad, though that can change quickly once departures and new arrivals begin to take shape.
Horn Myhre appears prepared for movement this summer. Whether Celtic are one of the clubs ready to make that move remains to be seen, but the door is certainly not closed from the player’s side.
