Real Oviedo Chief Sends Celtic Haissem Hassan Transfer Warning

New Real Oviedo sporting director David Fernández has spoken about Haissem Hassan’s future amid reports linking the winger with Celtic.

Fernández was speaking at his first press conference since taking the job, with Hassan’s situation among the topics raised.

Reports in Spain and Scotland have claimed Celtic are interested in the Egypt international, while some have suggested a bid has already been made.

Speaking via Killer Asturias, Fernández made clear Hassan remains a Real Oviedo player and that the club will take a firm position when it comes to both signings and departures this summer.

He said: “One of the main reasons I came was to interact with the ownership. I’ve been involved in every decision that’s been made.

“Haissem Hassan is owned by Oviedo. We will have a firm firm policy for bringing in players and managing departures.”

The comments did not confirm or deny whether Celtic have made an offer, but Oviedo’s position was still clear.

The Spanish club are not planning to let players leave easily, and any deal for Hassan would have to be on terms that suit them.

That matches earlier reports around the player’s value. Oviedo are believed to be in a strong position, while Villarreal are also understood to be due a percentage of any future transfer fee.

That could make things more difficult for Celtic if they decide to take their interest further.
