Celtic continue to be linked with Fares Ghedjemis, but any move for the Frosinone winger could come with a hefty price tag.
The wide player enjoyed an excellent season in Italy, scoring 15 goals as Frosinone secured promotion back to Serie A. His performances have naturally attracted attention, and fresh reports suggest Celtic remain among the clubs keeping a close eye on his situation.
According to Tutto Mercato Web, interest from the Hoops has not disappeared following the January transfer window, when Celtic were previously credited with an attempt to bring the winger to Scotland.
However, the report suggests Frosinone are under little pressure to sell.
After earning promotion, the Italian club are preparing for life in Serie A and view Ghedjemis as one of the key figures in their squad. As a result, any club hoping to take him away this summer would need to make what the report describes as an “irresistible” offer.
The valuation mentioned is around £13 million, a figure that would place the player among the most expensive signings in Celtic’s history.
That price reflects both his importance to Frosinone and the season he has just produced.
The player himself has also given little indication that he is looking for a move. Speaking recently about his career journey, Ghedjemis reflected on reaching Serie A after overcoming several setbacks earlier in his development.
His comments suggested a player enjoying the opportunity in front of him rather than one actively seeking a transfer elsewhere.
That does not mean interest will disappear.
At 24, Ghedjemis fits the profile of a player Celtic would typically monitor. He is entering the prime years of his career, has shown he can produce goals from wide areas and is coming off the strongest campaign of his career.
For now, though, the report paints a picture of a club determined to keep hold of one of its standout performers.
Whether Celtic, or any other interested side, would be willing to approach the valuation being discussed remains the biggest question as the summer transfer window gathers momentum.
