Former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie has claimed he’s heard there was further trouble after full-time at Ibrox on Sunday beyond what was shown on television.
As the final whistle blew in the 2–2 draw between Rangers and Celtic, tensions spilled over near the far side of the pitch. Martin O’Neill was seen sprinting across the turf to pull his players away as tempers flared.
That was the incident viewers witnessed.
However, according to McAvennie, what followed inside the tunnel may not have been quite as calm.
Speaking on his Let Me Be Frank podcast, he said: “I heard a wee rumour, aye. Allegedly, I guess.
“There might have been one or two bangs. The wee Mexican, with a Scottish accent and blonde hair. Well done, that’s brilliant. That’s my boy.”
While McAvennie did not explicitly name anyone, the description strongly pointed toward Julian Araujo.
