The next Celtic manager hasn’t half got his work cut out.
There will need to be a rebuild this summer, potentially bigger than the one Celtic had under Ange Postecoglou in 2021.
12 new players were welcomed to the club that summer with key arrivals including Kyogo, Carl Starfelt, Liel Abada, Joe Hart, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota, Giorgos Giakoumakis and Josip Juranovic.
They all came in and hit the ground running, much of the same will be needed in a few months’ time.
Motherwell are flying at the moment. They’re the most on form team in the country and play the best football. The Lanarkshire side have conceded just six goals and lost one in their last 20 league matches.
Naturally, Jens Berthel Askou has been linked to the post after his brilliant debut season in the Scottish Premiership.
However, he will turn down the Celtic job and head to the Premier League, claims Ross McCormack.
Motherwell are in fourth place, chasing down Celtic, Rangers and Hearts. If they don’t win the league, they will have a big say in who does.
Speaking on Open Goal, the former Scotland striker gave his hunch on the Motherwell manager. He said:
“I think he turns it down. I think he goes bigger than that. I’ll have a wee bet with you, I bet he goes to the Premier League before he goes to Celtic.
“I think the fact that Celtic haven’t got it done now, they are losing out on him. He doesn’t care about this league. He’s going to get an offer from the Premier League and be like everybody else and just leave.”
There will be many names linked to the Celtic post over the coming months, with an appointment expected in the summer.
