Johnny Kenny’s loan spell at Bolton continues to gather pace, with the Celtic striker now scoring in his third straight game.

The 21-year-old found the net again in Bolton’s 5–1 win over Stevenage last night, leading the line and getting his goal before coming off after 68 minutes. It was another sharp goal in a game where Bolton needed a strong response.

That goal adds to a growing run of form. Kenny has now scored in three consecutive matches, building on earlier contributions where he has also added assists. His minutes have been steady, and he has been trusted to start through the middle in recent fixtures.

There has been movement in his role at times, but this latest run has come when he is used as a central striker. That is where he looks most comfortable, staying high, getting into the box, and finishing moves rather than drifting wide.

The timing of that form will not go unnoticed. Back at Celtic, goals have not always been easy to come by. There have been matches where chances have been created but not taken, and the team has had to find other ways to win games.

Kenny’s recent run shows a player growing into senior football. He is not just getting minutes now, he is affecting games. That is the step Celtic would have wanted when sending him out on loan.

There is still a gap between League One and what is required at Celtic, but this is the type of form that starts to raise questions. If a striker is scoring regularly and building confidence, it becomes harder to ignore.

His movement has been sharper in recent weeks. He is getting across defenders, finding space in the box, and taking chances early. Those are the details that matter at a higher level.

For now, he remains focused on Bolton’s push at the top end of the table. But with Celtic’s forward line not firing consistently, Kenny’s form begs the question: is he better than what’s at the club currently?
