Julian Araujo has played in La Liga, lifted trophies in Spain, and represented Mexico on the international stage. Yet, according to Araujo, none of it tops what happened at Rugby Park on Sunday.

The right-back’s stoppage-time winner against Kilmarnock sealed a 3-2 comeback that could shape Celtic’s season. Two goals down at the break, the visitors turned the game around before Araujo arrived at the back post in the dying seconds to finish with his weak foot.

It was his first goal for the Hoops since arriving on loan from Bournemouth in January. It was also a moment that sent the away end into chaos. The celebrations spilled onto the pitch and Araujo was swallowed up by teammates and supporters.

Given his career path, from LA Galaxy to Barcelona and then the Premier League, it says a lot that this is the moment he places at the top.

He said: (TCW), “That’s probably like number one (among the best moments of my career).

“Number one, because the fans are crazy. I didn’t even know what I was doing. I just lost myself.

“I just seen so many people. Everybody was giving me kisses.

“I don’t even know what the hell happened. But it was crazy. One of the craziest moments of my life.”

Those comments will strike a chord with Celtic supporters. Players have come and gone in recent years, but not all connect with the crowd in that way. Araujo clearly felt it.

There is also the bigger question of what happens next. His loan runs until the end of the season and there is no option to buy written into the deal.

Still, his impact has been clear. He gives Celtic drive down the right and has shown he can deliver in key moments.

If he keeps performing in the run-in, the talk of a summer move will only grow louder. After an afternoon like that in Ayrshire, it is not hard to see why both sides might be open to it.
