Julian Araujo has reminded Celtic supporters of a prediction that looked wildly optimistic at the time – but ultimately proved spot on.

The Mexican international arrived at Celtic on loan in January and quickly bought into the belief that the title race was far from over, even when Hearts looked firmly in control at the top of the table.

Ahead of Celtic’s Scottish Cup clash with Rangers back in March, Araujo delivered a bold message when asked about the title picture.

He said: “Right now, Hearts are at the top, but at the end of the season, you’ll see.”

At the time, Celtic were chasing from behind and the path to reclaiming the Premiership looked incredibly difficult. Hearts had momentum, Celtic were inconsistent and many had already written Martin O’Neill’s side off.

But Araujo clearly never lost belief.

Following Celtic’s dramatic title-clinching win over Hearts at Celtic Park, the right-back reshared the clip on his Instagram story with the caption: “I told y’all.”

While injury ruled him out of the closing stages of the campaign, Araujo still played an important role in Celtic’s run-in.

His dramatic late winner against Kilmarnock proved absolutely massive in the context of the title race, earning crucial points during a period where Celtic simply could not afford any slip-ups.
