Kasper Høgh Transfer Takes Major Celtic Step

Danish outlet Campo reports that Celtic are trying to reach an agreement to sign Bodø/Glimt striker Kasper Høgh.

The report says the Hoops were also interested in the Denmark international during the winter transfer window and have now returned to the table.

It follows separate reporting from Sky Sports that Celtic are making a serious attempt to bring the forward to Glasgow.

There is no suggestion yet that Bodø/Glimt have accepted a bid, that personal terms are agreed or that the deal is close.

However, the latest update does point to Celtic doing more than simply keeping an eye on the player.

Høgh has impressed for Bodø/Glimt in Norway and in Europe, where his performances have helped raise his profile.

He also made his senior Denmark debut earlier this year, another sign of the progress he has made.

Bodø/Glimt are in a strong position and will not be under pressure to sell one of their best attacking players cheaply.

The Norwegian side are financially secure and Høgh is tied down on a long-term deal, so Celtic may have to pay a significant fee.

Another striker is still needed despite Camilo Duran making a bright start in pre-season.

Duran has scored in his first two appearances, but Martin O’Neill will want more depth and competition through the middle before the competitive fixtures begin.

Høgh would give Celtic a different type of forward, bringing strength, movement and experience from European football.

The report also links the renewed interest to the possibility of Daizen Maeda moving to Ipswich Town.

That part of the story remains less clear, but the interest in Høgh now appears to be active.
