Kasper Høgh Latest As Celtic Supporters Spot Key Detail

Kasper Høgh’s name is back in the conversation as Celtic continue their search for another striker this summer.

The Bodø/Glimt forward has been admired by the Hoops for some time, with interest stretching back to the January transfer window.

Høgh remained in Norway after enjoying a remarkable Champions League campaign, scoring important goals against Inter Milan and Manchester City as the Norwegian champions made headlines across Europe.

Fresh reports now suggest Celtic have revived their interest as Martin O’Neill looks to strengthen his attacking options before the transfer window closes.

Høgh was an unused substitute as Bodø/Glimt ran out comfortable 3-0 winners over HamKam in the Eliteserien on Wednesday. While squad rotation is nothing unusual, his absence from the action did not go unnoticed by supporters, particularly with transfer speculation gathering pace again.

Norwegian outlet Avisa Nordland has reported that Høgh held “good discussions” with Bodø/Glimt regarding a potential move during this transfer window. The report also claims the club are prepared to consider offers if their valuation of around £7 million is met.

Following the victory over HamKam, Bodø/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen addressed changes to his squad when asked about his team selection.

“The match today is a step in the right direction. The group has worked hard.

“We have had some [players] who have not been here, because they have been involved in other fun things [The World Cup], but the group has done extremely well.

“The whole group is signing up, they need to be ready.

“We have to work a little and change our players.” [TV2]

Knutsen’s comments point towards rotation rather than anything more significant, but they are unlikely to quieten the speculation surrounding Høgh’s future.

It is also important to keep expectations in check. There has been no report of a formal bid from Celtic at this stage, despite renewed links with the Danish striker.

Even so, his omission from recent action has inevitably fuelled further discussion among supporters looking for clues as the transfer window moves on.

Celtic’s need for further additions has been well documented, with Martin O’Neill recently stressing that more signings are required before the new season gathers pace.

Whether Høgh is the player who eventually arrives in Glasgow remains to be seen in practical terms, but his situation is one worth monitoring.
