Kasper Schmeichel may have left Celtic, but his affection for the club clearly has not disappeared.
But even while away from Celtic, Schmeichel still found time to share a small nod towards the Hoops on Instagram.
The former Celtic number one posted a story which appeared to show him inside an Adidas store, where next season’s Celtic shirt was on sale. Schmeichel added a green heart and four-leaf clover emoji to the picture.
It was only a simple post, but Celtic supporters will enjoy seeing it.
The veteran goalkeeper arrived with huge experience and a big personality, and while his future was always likely to be a short-term conversation, he still became part of a squad that delivered when the pressure was at its highest.
Celtic have now moved on, with Martin O’Neill facing a major goalkeeper decision this summer.
Viljami Sinisalo is already at the club, but there is still a strong expectation that Celtic will bring in another goalkeeper before the new season begins. Whether that is a clear number one or serious competition for Sinisalo remains to be seen.
Schmeichel’s exit is part of a wider rebuild, but his Instagram post shows there is still a connection there.
That matters to supporters.
Players come and go, especially experienced signings near the end of their careers, but the ones who understand Celtic tend to be remembered more fondly.
Schmeichel came in, played his part, won trophies, and now he is still sharing a bit of Celtic love from the other side of the world.
