Celtic supporters are once again seeing Kjetil Knutsen’s name linked with the club, but the full picture is being lost in the noise.
Knutsen was considered by Celtic before Wilfried Nancy was appointed, and that much is not in dispute. His work at Bodø/Glimt has earned respect across Europe, and Celtic were right to look at him during their search.
What has changed since then is Knutsen’s own situation in Norway. Reports from Norway have consistently stated that Knutsen has already reached an agreement to stay at Bodø/Glimt, even if the contract has not yet been formally signed.
This detail matters because it shifts the story away from availability. A manager who has agreed terms to remain where he is cannot be treated as an open option, no matter how unsettled things feel elsewhere.
From the Celtic side, this helps explain why the club moved on and appointed Nancy instead of waiting. Celtic were not ignoring Knutsen or passing over him lightly, but responding to the reality that he was unlikely to move.
