Kyogo Furuhashi has finally addressed the shoulder issue that plagued him during his time at Celtic and it’s brought his season to an early end.
The striker left Glasgow with an ongoing problem that would see his shoulder repeatedly pop out of place, with surgery always looming.
Now, it’s been dealt with.
Kyogo, currently at Birmingham City, has undergone an operation and will miss the remainder of the campaign.
The 31-year-old has struggled to hit top form since leaving Celtic, scoring just three goals, and was absent from Birmingham’s 1-0 defeat to Blackburn on Friday.
Boss Chris Davies confirmed the news.
He said: “Kyogo is out for the season. He’s had his shoulder operated on, which was an ongoing thing that he kept trying to put off.
“In the end we decided to get it done and then he’s back for pre-season.” [SunSport]
Kyogo had been loosely linked with a return to Celtic in January, but opted to stay in the Championship and fight for his place.
Now, his focus shifts to recovery and getting back to full fitness ahead of next season.
Celtic really needed to sign a striker who was going to bag the goals. Tomas Cvancara hasn’t really impressed at Celtic, while Adamu has not been making it to the matchday squads.
It looks like Iheanacho is Celtic’s best option going forward, after he scored at the weekend.
