Liam Scales has had his say on Celtic’s January transfer recruitment, and the Irishman is glad the squad is now locked in until the end of the season.
The 27-year-old is keen to help the new arrivals settle in and has said they’re already adjusting to the new surroundings. With a gruelling schedule ahead, it’s important that they gel with the rest of the squad quickly and hit the ground running.
Junior Adamu has already done just that. The striker made his debut off the bench on Saturday evening to net a brilliant equaliser that took the Scottish Cup tie to extra time, with the Hoops eventual winners; it sets up a quarter-final tie at Ibrox next month.
Scales has had his say on the club’s transfer activity, where four other players were brought in on loan deals.
He said (Celtic FC YouTube):
“It’s always good to get to the end of the window and [there’s] just no question of anyone coming or going and you have your set squad.
“We obviously recruited well. All the guys we signed look really good and they’re really good lads as well. They’ve kind of settled in nicely.
“A few away games coming, they’re the times you can really try and gel. There’s a lot of games coming up, so we’re going to need the whole squad.”
Tomorrow night’s game against Livingston, at Celtic Park, is the first of seven fixtures within the next three weeks. The squad will be utilised to its fullest, which is where the new bhoys will be called upon.
Tomas Cvancara and Julian Araujo have already made nine appearances between them. Joel Mvuka made his Hoops debut from the start at the weekend, but was substituted off at half time after flattering to deceive; it’s still very early days into his Celtic career.
Defender Benjamin Arthur, on-loan from Brentford, is waiting for his first appearance; with defensive cover thin, it may not be long until we see him partner Liam Scales at the back.
