Luis Palma’s future remains uncertain as discussions continue in Poland over whether Lech Poznań could make a bold financial play on the Celtic winger this summer.
Palma is currently on loan with Lech Poznań, where he has been playing regularly and rebuilding momentum after a difficult spell back in Glasgow.
The loan agreement includes an option to buy set at around £4 million, a figure which would be double Lech’s current transfer record and, on the face of it, well beyond their usual spending power.
Club officials in Poznań have been consistent in public that the fee is too high for them to comfortably afford. However, despite that stance, the option remains on the table and has not been dismissed internally.
According to Polish outlet Kanal Sportowy, conversations are now taking place behind the scenes about whether triggering the option could still make sense from a business perspective. The idea being explored is whether Lech could sign Palma permanently and then look to move him on quickly, effectively flipping the player for profit if interest emerges elsewhere.
It is a strategy Celtic fans will recognise. A similar scenario played out with Jack Hendry, who was sent on loan from Celtic to KV Oostende in 2020. Oostende exercised their option to buy, and just two months later Hendry was sold on to Club Brugge, turning a quick profit.
Lech Poznań are now reportedly assessing the wider market to see if there would be interest in Palma at a fee that could net them a £2–3 million return. If that pathway exists, it could change their thinking entirely.
Whether Lech gambles on the option or Celtic looks to move him on elsewhere remains to be seen.
