Watch: Brilliant Unseen Celtic Moment vs Hibs

Footage shared on X has highlighted a flashpoint between Daizen Maeda and Hibernian’s Josh Campbell during Celtic’s 2-1 win at Easter Road.

The moment came shortly after a strong penalty appeal for Celtic. As the ball moved toward the Hibs Goal, Benjamin Nygren stayed tight under pressure before going to ground, with a clear push from Campbell as he tried to shield it out.

There was no penalty given, and play moved on, but tensions did not settle there. Video clips circulating online show Campbell grabbing Maeda by the scruff of the shirt and getting right into his face in the aftermath of the incident.

Maeda did not react at the time in a big way. He stayed focused on the game, which continued at a high tempo with Celtic pushing for control.

The response came later.

After Kelechi Iheanacho scored what proved to be the winning goal in the second half, Maeda made his feelings known. As celebrations died down, he went straight up to Campbell and got right in his face, giving a bit back after the earlier confrontation.

It was a moment that summed up the edge in the game. Even with Hibs down to ten men, the match never felt comfortable for Celtic, and there was a bite to challenges throughout.

For Maeda, it also showed the competitive side of his game. He is usually focused on movement and pressing, but he did not forget what happened earlier.

The footage has since picked up traction online, with supporters quick to point out the timing of Maeda’s response.
