Daizen Maeda’s title celebrations continued away from Celtic Park after the Celtic forward was spotted enjoying dinner at one of the squad’s favourite Glasgow restaurants.
The Japanese forward played a massive role in the comeback win.
Maeda scored Celtic’s second goal late in the game after Callum Osmand’s low cross caused chaos inside the Hearts box. At that stage Celtic Park was already on edge with Hearts minutes away from winning the title themselves.
Instead Maeda produced the moment that flipped everything.
By full-time supporters had flooded onto the pitch after Osmand added the third goal in stoppage time. Martin O’Neill’s side had completed one of the wildest title comebacks the club has seen for years.
Now the celebrations are continuing across Glasgow.
La Lanterna West End posted pictures of Maeda on Facebook alongside a message congratulating both the player and Celtic after the title win.
The restaurant wrote:
“We had the pleasure of welcoming Daizen Maeda to La Lanterna West End for dinner recently.
“A huge thank you for visiting us, and congratulations to Celtic F.C. and Daizen on winning the Scottish Premiership.
“An incredible achievement and we’re delighted to celebrate with you.”
La Lanterna has become closely linked with Celtic over recent years and remains one of the most popular restaurants in Glasgow among players and staff. Martin O’Neill himself has been spotted there multiple times since returning to the club earlier this season, while several first-team players regularly visit the West End venue.
Maeda looked relaxed in the pictures after what has probably been the most exhausting season of his Celtic career.
The forward carried huge responsibility during the title run-in and once again delivered when Celtic needed him most. Even in matches where he struggled to influence possession consistently, his movement and energy continued stretching teams late in games.
Saturday summed that up perfectly.
For long spells Hearts defended Celtic well and frustrated the crowd. Once spaces finally opened in the closing stages, Maeda’s instincts inside the box changed the entire afternoon.
Now he has another league winner’s medal, and apparently another visit to La Lanterna to go with it.
