One reason could be Arthur. He had just gone beyond 90 minutes and looked to be feeling it. There may also have been a slight concern there, although nothing was confirmed afterwards.
The decision worked out. Murray settled in, Celtic held firm, and once the game opened up, they took full advantage. The goals came quickly once the first one landed.
Hatate stayed on the bench, but the exchange with Maloney told its own story. It wasn’t ignored or brushed off. It was explained.
In a game that swung as much as this one did, that kind of clarity matters. Players know what is happening, even when they are not the ones going on.
