Marcelo Saracchi summed up the mood around Celtic after the dramatic title win with a brilliant Instagram story celebrating the club’s place in Scottish football history.
The Uruguayan defender shared a new image design, likely created at Lennoxtown, showing the Celtic squad and coaching staff posing on the pitch at Celtic Park with the Premiership trophy following Saturday’s chaotic 3-1 comeback win over Hearts.
Alongside the image, Saracchi posted the caption:
“56… NO ONE HAS MORE.”
A simple message, but one Celtic supporters instantly loved.
The number, of course, refers to Celtic’s 56 league titles – moving the club clear at the top outright.
And while the milestone is hugely significant, the reaction around Celtic has perhaps contrasted sharply with the noise elsewhere in Glasgow when Rangers reached 55 titles several years ago.
Celtic’s players largely seem focused on the achievement itself rather than making it the centrepiece of the celebrations, even if supporters have understandably enjoyed the symbolism attached to finally moving clear.
Saracchi himself has become one of the most popular figures in the dressing room during the title run-in.
The left-back enjoyed an excellent campaign and played a massive role during the split as Martin O’Neill’s side clawed their way back into the race.
Reports from Argentina continue to suggest Boca Juniors are now expecting Celtic to make a move to sign him permanently following his successful loan spell.
After performances like those seen over the closing weeks of the season – and moments like this on social media – it is not difficult to see why supporters are desperate for that deal to happen.
