Callum Osmand signed for Celtic in the summer, joining from Fulham with the Hoops paying a development fee.

Fans were unsure what to make of the signing at the time, but it was clear that Fulham supporters were disappointed to see him leave.

The last striker to sign from Fulham under Brendan Rodgers didn’t do too bad. That was, of course, Moussa Dembele.

The then-Celtic manager didn’t give the youngster too much of a chance in the first team. He mainly played for the B Team and didn’t get his first chance under Martin O’Neill arived at Parkhead for the first time this season.

It was then that he broke through and impressed. He even got a goal against Rangers in the League Cup semi-final.

Then, heartbreak hit, and he done his hamstring. He’s been out since before Christmas and is still working his way back.

He’s been in training and played some minutes with the B Team.

Now, the gaffer has revealed that he is looking for a striker to make an impact this season, “at least” from the bench.

Speaking on his situation, Martin O’Neill said to the Herald:

“Callum Osmand is doing very well. He has only played 45 minutes of a B team game but he’s trained with us and is doing fine.

“At some stage, I want to try to find a place for him to at least make an impact coming on again.”

Hopefully, we do see the striker get some minutes this season and impress the incoming manager, whoever that may be, before they arrive.

  1. He won’t feature in any of our last 3 games and neither should he. He had a couple of games and a couple of goals before Xmas, before doing his hamstring. Yes, I know one of the goals was against theRangers, a leggy 10 man theRangers deep into extra time. He may turn out to be great for us, at some future point. But we only view him as a potential saviour now because we are desperate for one. And that desperation is all due to the failures of our current board.

    • So I have read your comment over a couple times and I am still not very clear on WHY you think he shouldn’t be included in the squad?
