Martin O’Neill may have been spotted leaving Glasgow on Tuesday, but the Celtic legend is already scheduled to be back in Scotland this weekend.

The 74-year-old was seen at Glasgow Airport earlier this week as supporters continued to wait for official confirmation over Celtic’s managerial situation.

Reports have strongly indicated that O’Neill is set to remain in charge, but as things stand, supporters are still waiting for the club to make their move public.

Despite his airport appearance, O’Neill is due in Dumfries this Saturday for ‘An Afternoon with Martin O’Neill’ at The Cairndale Hotel & Spa.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, 13 June, from 12pm until 3pm, is being billed as an afternoon with the current Celtic manager, offering supporters the chance to hear from one of British football’s most respected figures.

The event description states that O’Neill will give “an in-depth insight to his time as the Celtic boss”, as well as sharing stories from a remarkable career in football.

For Celtic supporters, the timing is impossible to ignore.

The club’s fanbase has spent recent days waiting for an official announcement, with O’Neill widely expected to continue after stepping in and guiding the side through a crucial spell.

His return to Celtic has already carried major emotional significance. This is, after all, the manager who transformed the club at the start of the century, restored belief, delivered trophies and led Celtic all the way to the 2003 UEFA Cup Final in Seville.

Now, more than two decades later, his name is once again at the centre of the Celtic conversation.

Saturday’s event in Dumfries is set to include a live Q&A and an in-depth interview, giving fans a rare chance to hear directly from O’Neill at a time when his future is the biggest talking point around the club.

Standard tickets are priced at £35, while VIP meet-and-greet tickets, which include a photo with O’Neill and front-area seating, were listed at £70 and have already sold out.

It remains to be seen whether Celtic will make any official announcement before the event takes place.

But one thing is clear: while O’Neill may have departed Glasgow on Tuesday, he will not be away from Scotland for long.
