Celtic Confirm Pre-Season Plan

Celtic have confirmed their first pre-season friendly plan for this summer.

Supporters are still waiting for official confirmation on the managerial front, with Martin O’Neill spotted at Glasgow Airport today (June 9), though seemingly headed for the departures area.

News was reported last week that O’Neill had agreed to stay on for another season, with the option of a further year.

It’s set to be a busy summer, with several players likely heading for the exit door, and fans are awaiting further news regarding the manager situation. The Scottish transfer window opens on June 15 and closes on September 3.

The Hoops have made one thing official, and that’s who they will face as part of their pre-season plans.

It was revealed last week that Italian giants AC Milan would be travelling to Celtic Park, and the Celts have now confirmed this, with the game set to be played on Saturday, July 25.

The sides became very familiar with each other, facing off eight times between 2004 and 2014. The most memorable being the 2-1 win in 2007, when Scott McDonald’s last-minute strike sealed the win in Glasgow.

The seven-time Champions League winners are reportedly interested in Celtic midfielder Arne Engels, along with multiple English Premier League sides.

Further reports have suggested that Celtic will travel to Dublin to face Shelbourne in further pre-season plans, though official confirmation of this is yet to be announced. 

Summer friendlies will be the furthest thing from supporters’ minds, given the work that’s required ahead of next season, but it’s at least one match that can be noted in the diary.
