Callum McGregor was on stage to honour 30 years of the Celtic FC Foundation’s charity work, explaining why it’s a cause so close to his heart.
The event was held at the Doubletree by Hilton, Glasgow, a venue where so many end-of-year awards ceremonies have been held over the years.
A host of names were in attendance, including Martin O’Neill, Shaun Maloney, Ľubo Moravčík, and Gordon Strachan; Captain Kelly Clark and head coach Grant Scott were also there representing the Women’s team.
It was Callum McGregor’s speech that was met with a resounding applause. In a time when matters on the pitch are high-pressure, it was a nice moment to remember why causes off the pitch are so important.

McGregor has been at Celtic for the majority of his life. His connection to the club resonates with supporters, which is why his legend status is already cemented.
He said (FoundationCFC):
“I think this is my 25th year at the club. It’s been pretty much my whole life, and it’s given me unbelievable times. We’re intertwined now at this point, it’s been an amazing journey for me.
“You talk about big clubs, you know, it’s an impact on the community. It’s what you do for the surroundings. It’s an amazing football club.
“The work that the Foundation do to try and give back and help as much as possible. Coming from the East End of Glasgow, I know it well.
“Like I said, it’s in my blood, so it’s amazing work. I’m just glad that I can try and do my bit on the pitch and try and hopefully help off the pitch as well.”

The 32-year-old is the club’s third-most decorated player of all time with 26 trophies, tied with Lisbon Lion Bobby Lennox, and just two behind teammate James Forrest, who is top.
559 appearances and counting for our captain and countless memories made. That is a testament to how much he has given to the club.
It was a moment for McGregor to take stock, not just of his own contribution, but the brilliant work that the Foundation has put in over the years and the impact that it’s had on the community.
