Celtic supporters in Ireland reportedly had the chance to put their questions directly to senior club figures after Celtic made a late request to attend the Association of Irish Celtic Supporters Clubs AGM in Cork.
The AICS held its AGM on July 4, but the running order was changed after Celtic asked for Martin O’Neill, Brian Wilson and Michael Nicholson to speak with supporters and clubs during the club’s Irish tour.
The AICS statement makes clear that supporters were able to raise concerns around transfers, communication, fan engagement and modernising the club’s structures.
A statement from the AICS read on X:
“The Association of Irish Celtic Supporters Clubs held their AGM in Cork on July 4th.The scheduled proceedings were slightly altered due to the AICS receiving a last minute request from Celtic Football Club to allow Celtic manager Martin O’Neill, and board members Brian Wilson and Michael Nicholson an opportunity to engage with supporters and clubs as part of their Irish tour.
The AICS accepted the request as chance for fans and Irish Supporters Clubs to raise questions and concerns directly with the board on issues that have effected both fans and the club. Particularly around transfers, communication, fan engagement and modernising club structures. The AICS has a duty of care to represent Irish Celtic Supporters Clubs and welcome the opportunity to engage in improved fan communication with Celtic as a forum to raise, challenge and engage on matters that concern fans and Irish Supporters Clubs directly with the board.
The AICS continues to grow year on year and we pay homage to our clubs and members all over Ireland that freely give up their time to build and help in the development of the AICSC.

This was not just a normal supporters’ club appearance or a quick meet-and-greet. According to the AICS, the AGM had to be slightly changed so O’Neill, Nicholson and Wilson could engage with supporters directly.
That gave fans in the room a rare chance to speak to people at the top of the club.
Nicholson and Wilson were there from the board side, while O’Neill’s presence meant supporters also had a football figure involved in the discussion.
The topics listed by the AICS will be familiar to plenty of Celtic supporters. Transfers and communication have been major talking points for a long time, especially during windows when supporters want clarity on what the club is trying to do.
Fan engagement and modernising club structures are wider issues, but they matter too. They are about how Celtic speak to supporters, how much supporters feel listened to, and whether the club is keeping pace off the park.
Celtic’s Irish support is a huge part of the club, and meetings like this can be valuable if they lead to better communication.
The next step is seeing whether this kind of engagement continues, and whether supporters get clearer answers on the issues raised in Cork.

Looks like when someone is sold the club will buy to replace but as we saw last season that ended badly. And who we are supposed to be bidding for does not look that great to be honest let’s see how it ends. Regarding the staidium it needs some serious money spent on it some part mainly the old stand needs redevelop asap this can be funded over many years by repayment loans. As we keep getting told this is how celtic are successful business so should be no problem funding the redevelopment of the staidium. What is really important engagement more with the true supporters who spend the hard earned cash buying into celtic fc and the board need to be reminded its the supporters that keep celtic in business.
