A former Celtic B captain has made the permanent switch to Premiership side Livingston, starting from next season.

Mitchell Robertson came through the ranks at the Hoops before joining Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the summer on a loan deal. Livingston have stated that he will remain at the Highland club for the remainder of the current campaign before making the move to West Lothian.

There were reports of his move to Inverness made last week. Livingston officially announced his arrival by saying:

“We are delighted to announce the signing of Mitchell Robertson, who joins us from Scottish Premiership Champions Celtic, on a 3-and-a-half-year deal.”

The 20-year-old has experience playing in the Lowland League with Celtic B, as well as the UEFA Youth League. He was appointed captain of the Celtic B team, being a mainstay in the squad throughout the previous three Lowland League campaigns, as he now looks to further his development on a permanent basis.

Mitchell has made ten appearances so far this season at Inverness and will aim to guide them to promotion back to the Championship.

Livingston are currently in a fight to remain in Scotland’s top flight. Whether they somehow survive or are relegated, this seems like a good move for Robertson to further his development, having already gained valuable experience in Scotland’s professional pyramid.

Ben Summers, another Celtic academy prospect, recently joined Ayr United as they aim for promotion under Celtic legend Scott Brown.
