Neil Lennon had one of his greatest nights in football as his Dunfermline Athletic dumped Aberdeen out of the Scottish Cup on Saturday.
The Pars have joined Falkirk in the draw for the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.
Celtic play Rangers this afternoon, before St Mirren host Partick Thistle this evening. The draw will take place after that match.
Neil Lennon oversaw the masterclass that took Dunfermline to Hampden for the first time in 17 years.
The team that sit fourth in the Championship taught managerless Aberdeen a lesson with the 3-0 scoreline at East End Park.
After the match, Neil Lennon said that the night was up there with some of his experiences in the Celtic dugout, like beating Barcelona and Lazio and winning trebles as Celtic boss.
Speaking to the BBC post-match, he said:
“That’s one of my best achievements in football, doing this with Dunfermline, with where we are at the minute. I just said to the players there, I said, drink it in. You’re going to the big show now and you’ve really put the club on the map, which is what we’ve all been looking to do.
“Everything’s relative.
“If you put it in context it’s up there with winning trebles, or Barcelona, or Lazio, or getting promoiton with Hibs and winning a cup out in Cyprus.
“It’s right up there with the magnitude and signifance of what we’ve done here tonight.”
A great night for Neil Lennon and his Dunfermline side.
Hopefully, Celtic will be joining them in the draw later this evening. The Hoops know that they can’t play how they started last week’s encounter. They couldn’t get anywhere near Rangers in that first half.
But changed at half time and the introduction of Reo Hatate flipped the momentum of the match, and the Hoops showed that when they’re at their best, no team can get anywhere near them.
