Footy Adventures creator Sam North captured a moment during the Glasgow derby that television cameras did not show. The YouTuber was inside Ibrox filming one of his matchday vlogs when Rangers believed they had finally broken the deadlock.
The chance came from a corner that caused chaos in the Celtic penalty area. Emmanuel Fernandez forced the ball over the line and Rangers players reacted as if the tie had been settled. For a few seconds, it looked like the goal that would send the home side to Hampden.
North’s camera picked up something else as the celebrations began. His footage showed Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin turning toward the Broomloan Stand where the travelling Celtic support were packed in. Raskin celebrated in the direction of the away fans while the Rangers players gathered near the goal.
It was a bold reaction in a game already running on edge. Celtic supporters had spent most of the afternoon backing a team forced to defend deep. Rangers had the ball and delivered cross after cross into the penalty box. Celtic survived through blocks, tackles and a few big saves from Viljami Sinisalo.
The celebration quickly lost its meaning. VAR checked the build-up and ruled the goal out for handball by Fernandez. Rangers’ moment disappeared as quickly as it arrived.
From a Celtic perspective, the decision only added to the sense of resilience in the performance. Players who had been under pressure for much of the game simply reset and kept defending.
Raskin’s brief celebration toward the Broomloan Stand now looks like a moment that arrived too early. In derby matches emotions often spill over, but players usually know that nothing is settled until the referee points to the centre circle.
Celtic then finished the job from the spot. Penalties are never comfortable, especially at Ibrox, but the Celtic players were calm. Each kick was taken with control.
Tomas Cvancara rolled in the final penalty. The travelling support erupted behind the goal. The same stand that had watched Raskin’s celebration earlier was now celebrating a place in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
