Callum Osmand says he is feeling better and looking forward to the new season after getting back into Celtic pre-season training.

The young striker is back on the pitch after a first year in Glasgow that finished in unforgettable fashion. Osmand came off the bench against Hearts on the final day and scored as Celtic won 3-1 to seal the title.

For a young player still trying to make his mark at first-team level, it was a massive moment. It also changed how many supporters now see him.

Asked how his body was feeling after the first few sessions back, Osmand admitted pre-season had been tough already.

“Yeah, I’m struggling a little bit, but I feel a lot better,” Osmand said (CelticPlayer).

“I feel ten times better than I did. I’ve had a good time to just get myself in the right place, but I’m really excited for the season and yeah, I’m feeling good.”

It was an honest answer. Pre-season is never meant to be comfortable, and Osmand is still working his way back after a first campaign that had a few stops and starts.

But there was also a clear sense that he feels in a better place now. He sounds ready to push on rather than simply enjoy what happened at the end of last season.

The forward was also asked about his summer after that dramatic title-winning day against Hearts.

“Yeah, I know. It feels like I get recognised way more now in Glasgow,” he said.

“Obviously that goal was massive and yeah, I’m glad it was me. It was just an amazing day.”

Osmand knows that goal changed things for him. Celtic supporters remember players who deliver in title moments, and his strike against Hearts gave him a bond with the support that might usually take much longer to build.

Now he has to build on it.

Osmand arrived from Fulham as a young striker with promise, and his first season gave Celtic fans a glimpse of what he can offer. His goal against Rangers at Hampden showed his instinct in a big game, while his contribution against Hearts gave him another major moment before the season was out.

The next challenge is doing it more often. Celtic still need more goals and more depth across the front line, and Osmand will want to make sure last season was the start of something rather than one short burst.

His comments suggest he knows the work starts again now. He is back at Lennoxtown, back in training, and back with a bigger profile than he had a few months ago.

That brings pressure, but it also brings belief. After the way last season ended, Osmand has given himself a platform.
