Celtic have launched CelticPlayer, the club’s new home for live match streaming and exclusive video content.
The new platform replaces Celtic TV and is being presented by the club as a major upgrade on the previous service, with improved navigation, a cleaner layout and better access for supporters through their Celtic FC Digital Account.
While fans are still waiting on the first signing of the summer, Celtic have at least managed to get one new arrival through the door. It just happens to be a streaming platform rather than a goalkeeper, left-back or centre-half.

Celtic say CelticPlayer will carry behind-the-scenes footage, exclusive features, feature-length documentaries, a classic match archive and matchday content. Existing Celtic TV subscriptions have been automatically moved across, with subscribers due to receive further information by email.
The club have also confirmed that CelticPlayer will be the only place to watch all four men’s first-team pre-season matches live this summer.
Martin O’Neill’s side will face Shelbourne in Dublin before heading to the Algarve to take on Sporting Lisbon. Middlesbrough and AC Milan will then visit Celtic Park later this month, with all four fixtures shown exclusively on the new service.
The UK and Ireland annual package costs £65 for 12 months, which the club lists as the equivalent of £1.25 per week. That package includes live pre-season coverage, audio commentary for more than 40 matches, match replays, discounted pay-per-view access and unlimited video content.
For supporters outside the UK and Ireland, the international annual package costs £175 for 12 months. That includes more than 40 live league and cup matches, pre-season coverage, match replays and original club content.
There is also an international monthly package at £20 per month, with the option to cancel at any time.
Celtic say the platform will soon be available through the official Celtic FC App, allowing supporters to access content more easily on mobile devices.
The move is a clear attempt to modernise the club’s direct-to-fan content offering. Celtic TV has drawn criticism from supporters over the years, particularly around login issues, streaming reliability and the overall user experience.
CelticPlayer now becomes the club’s answer to that. The idea of a single login across ticketing, retail and video content makes sense, and improved billing management should also make life easier for subscribers.
The real test will come when the live matches begin. Supporters will not be judging this on the launch statement or the fresh branding. They will judge it on whether the stream works, whether the picture holds up, and whether the platform can cope when thousands log in before kick-off.
For now, Celtic have confirmed one major summer change. The transfer business can only hope to move at the same speed.
