Celtic return to Premiership duty on Saturday when Motherwell arrive at Celtic Park, with the SFA confirming the officials for the match.

The Hoops come into the fixture off the back of a draining afternoon at Ibrox. Martin O’Neill’s side booked their place in the Scottish Cup semi-finals on Sunday after edging past Rangers on penalties.

It was a determined performance, with Celtic without several key players, but they still found a way through over 120 minutes before holding their nerve in the shootout.

Attention now shifts back to the league and the ongoing title fight.

They host Motherwell this Saturday, knowing every point matters as the run-in begins to take shape.

The Lanarkshire side sit fourth in the table and have quietly put together a strong campaign. They suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Dundee on Saturday, just their fourth loss of the Premiership season.

Despite that setback, they will not be underestimated.

Motherwell’s possession-heavy style and willingness to commit bodies forward has caused problems across the division this season. Celtic have already experienced that first-hand.

The sides’ earlier meeting this term was one of the more chaotic afternoons at Celtic Park. Daizen Maeda snatched a dramatic 92nd-minute winner to seal a 3-2 victory.

It served as a reminder that Jens Berthel Askou’s team are capable of hurting Celtic if given space or time on the ball.

The officials for Saturday’s match have now been confirmed by the SFA.

John Beaton will take charge as referee, with Graeme Stewart and Calum Spence running the lines. Kevin Clancy has been assigned VAR duties, assisted by Gary Hilland.

Saturday will be the first time O’Neill has faced Motherwell during either of his interim spells in charge this season.

His side will hope the resilience shown at Ibrox carries into league action.

With the title race entering its final stretch, the Hoops know momentum can shift quickly. The task now is to build on the cup progress and keep the pressure on at the top of the table.
