The refereeing team has been confirmed for Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final as Celtic prepare for a tense rematch with St Mirren at Hampden.

11th January 2025; Victoria Park, Dingwall, Scotland: Scottish Premiership Football, Ross County versus Celtic; Referee Matthew MacDermid

Referee duties will be handled by Matthew MacDermid, assisted by Ross Macleod and David Roome on the lines, the SFA have confirmed.

VAR will be overseen by Kevin Clancy, with Chris Graham as assistant VAR for the 2pm kick-off at Hampden Park.

There’s plenty riding on this one.

The psychological scars from December’s League Cup final still linger, when Celtic, then under Wilfried Nancy, were beaten 3-1 by St Mirren.

And the Paisley side, now led by Craig McLeish, will take confidence from both that result and their recent form.

They’ve seen off Livingston, Airdrieonians and Partick Thistle to reach this stage and it’s their first semi-final appearance since 2021.

Celtic, meanwhile, edged a narrow 1-0 win over St Mirren in the league on Saturday, thanks to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s early strike.

But it wasn’t convincing.

And with a place in the final at stake, Martin O’Neill will know his side must improve.

But one thing’s certain, this won’t be straightforward.

Celtic face a massive run of games and could still have a successful season; they just need to go perfect. Easier said than done.
