Danny Rohl was not spared by the Celtic support after Rangers crumbled again at Celtic Park on Sunday afternoon.

As Celtic closed out a 3-1 derby win, the song linked with the Rangers manager echoed around the stadium from all sides of the ground. Home supporters had spent most of the second half singing it while Rangers lost their grip on the match.

Then Celtic added another twist after full-time.

With Rangers players leaving the pitch following another damaging defeat, the stadium speakers blasted out the Boney M tune connected to Rohl since his arrival at Ibrox earlier this season. Celtic fans immediately joined in.

The reaction summed up the mood inside Celtic Park by the end of the afternoon.

A few months ago, Rangers supporters had fully embraced the chant as results improved under the German coach. There was growing belief around a title challenge and hopes of returning to the Champions League.

Instead, Rangers have collapsed badly during the split fixtures.

Defeats against Hearts and Motherwell had already damaged them before Celtic finished the job on Sunday. Rangers are now seven points behind their rivals and officially out of the race.

Mikey Moore gave them an early lead and Celtic looked vulnerable whenever Chermiti drove forward in transition. Once Celtic settled though, Rangers could not handle the pace of the game.

Yang Hyun-jun equalised after sharp play involving Luke McCowan and Arne Engels. Martin O’Neill then changed the match completely at half-time by introducing Sebastian Tounekti and moving Yang back over to the right side.

From there, Celtic took over.

Kieran Tierney kept finding space down the left and Daizen Maeda stretched Rangers constantly with his movement across the front line. His overhead kick for the third goal sent the stadium wild and completely killed the game.

By the closing stages, Celtic supporters were enjoying themselves.

James Tavernier had already been sarcastically applauded during what could be his final derby appearance. Then came the soundtrack over the speakers as thousands inside Celtic Park sang along to the tune Rangers fans once made their own.
