Boca Juniors Greenlight Marcelo Saracchi Exit

Marcelo Saracchi’s future already appears to be moving away from both Celtic and Boca Juniors following fresh reports from Argentina regarding the left-back’s situation.

The Uruguayan is due back at Boca after his loan spell in Glasgow officially ends, but there now seems little expectation that he will remain part of the Argentine club’s plans going forward.

According to El Intransigente, Boca are actively looking to move Saracchi on during the summer window and would prefer any deal to take him abroad rather than elsewhere in Argentina.

That update probably explains why there was little movement around a Celtic return despite supporters warming to him during the second half of the season.

Saracchi never became an automatic starter at Celtic, but he still made an impact in several important moments. His aggressive running from left-back added energy late in matches and he played a major role in the title-winning victory over Hearts after driving forward and creating the move which eventually led to Daizen Maeda’s decisive goal.

Supporters also responded quickly to his style.

Saracchi played with urgency whenever he came into the side. He attacked space aggressively, defended front-footed and looked emotionally invested immediately. Those traits tend to connect quickly at Celtic, especially during difficult periods of a season.

The reality of the squad situation always made a permanent move difficult though.

Kieran Tierney remains first-choice left-back and Celtic already face major rebuilding work across other areas of the squad this summer. Spending heavily on another experienced left-back who would likely begin as backup never looked straightforward financially.

The latest reports from Argentina also suggest Boca no longer see a pathway back into the squad for Saracchi either.

Lautaro Blanco is reportedly firmly established ahead of him and Boca are believed to be planning player exits before focusing fully on new arrivals for the second half of the season.

What happens next may simply come down to the market.

Despite interest in moving abroad again, the reports also claim no formal negotiations over a permanent transfer have started yet. Saracchi clearly left a positive impression at Celtic, but his next move still looks uncertain for now.
