Celtic will need to be in the market for full-back cover this transfer window, and Chris Sutton has given his verdict on a potential move for Marcelo Saracchi.
The Uruguayan joined on loan from Boca Juniors at the beginning of the season, largely playing second fiddle to Kieran Tierney.
But when Saracchi did feature, he offered a different dynamic. That has led to supporters wanting the club to pursue a permanent deal.
The 28-year-old came off the bench to change the game in Celtic’s title decider against Hearts. His energy and dribbling ability allowed the team to move up the pitch and find an 87th-minute goal that put them firmly in the driving seat for Premiership glory.

Chris Sutton has now offered his verdict on a potential Sarracchi move to Glasgow. Speaking on The Warm-Up, he said:
“He’s a decent footballer, but I’m not so sure he has the legs.
“He’s probably a better footballer than Kieran Tierney. When he goes into that inverted full-back role, he has better awareness of what’s around, but he’s not as good of a 1v1 defender as Tierney.”
While Tierney remains first choice, featuring 53 times in all competitions in his first season back at his boyhood club, cover is required given the demanding schedule over the course of the season.
Tierney would often be replaced later in games; that’s when Saracchi would often be introduced to offer fresh legs and a chance to get stuck in.
Whether it is Saracchi or not, the club must be on the lookout for quality in the left-back role.
