There’s been plenty of debate about who will eventually replace Callum McGregor as Celtic captain but Scott Brown believes the answer is already clear.

When Brown left Celtic, the transition to McGregor felt natural.
Despite a slight delay during Ange Postecoglou’s early days, due to McGregor’s late return from international duty, the midfielder quickly established himself as the dressing room leader.
This time, it’s less straightforward.
A number of players have worn the armband this season, including Kasper Schmeichel, Liam Scales, James Forrest and Kieran Tierney.
Brown, however, sees a clear successor.
He said: “I think Kieran will be the next one.
“Cal still has a lot to offer. Then I think it’s natural for Kieran to step in for captaining once Cal retires, if I am honest.” [The Warmup]
It’s a view that will resonate with supporters.
Tierney’s leadership qualities have never been in doubt and his return to Celtic has only strengthened that case.
On the pitch, he’s delivered too. Five goals and 11 assists from left-back this season underline his influence going forward, while his presence and standards set the tone defensively.
The timing is key.
McGregor isn’t going anywhere just yet, but there are some signs that he’s slowing down a bit and he is managing an injury.
But when that moment does come, Brown believes there will be no uncertainty.
The armband will stay in safe hands, well, a safe arm…
