Celtic’s dramatic Scottish Cup win at Ibrox has been followed by an investigation after supporters entered the pitch at full time.
The quarter-final finished 0–0 after extra time before Celtic held their nerve in the penalty shootout. Tomas Cvancara rolled the final kick into the corner to send the away end into celebration and secure Celtic’s place in the semi-finals at Hampden.
Large numbers of Celtic supporters had travelled to the match. The Broomloan Stand held a full visiting crowd for the first time in years and the reaction to the winning penalty was instant as fans poured forward to celebrate near the pitch.
The situation soon became chaotic. Television coverage showed supporters on the field while stewards and police moved quickly to regain control. Some confrontations followed near the touchline as players and staff tried to leave the area.
The Scottish FA condemns the behaviour from supporters entering the field of play following today’s Scottish Gas Scottish Cup Quarter-Final at Ibrox Stadium.
An investigation will be carried out immediately in line with the Judicial Panel Protocol.

Before the chaos, the match itself had turned into a long defensive effort for Celtic. Rangers pushed forward throughout the second half and extra time, sending crosses into the penalty area and forcing blocks inside the box.
Viljami Sinisalo dealt with several dangerous deliveries while defenders stepped in to clear loose balls. Daizen Maeda also had a first-half header ruled out after VAR judged Liam Scales to be offside in the build-up.
When penalties arrived, Celtic stayed calm. Rangers missed one of their attempts and Cvancara stepped forward to finish the tie.
The focus now moves to the Scottish FA investigation into the pitch invasion and the scenes that followed the final whistle. Celtic, meanwhile, move on to Hampden with their Scottish Cup run still alive.

police was protecting Celtic players and staff from thugs a lot with blue head covering these people have to be banned we know where they stand Celtic have done it to there fans no one or group of supporters are above the law in that section of ibrox they are uniformed all in black even have a built up platform to rouse the fans into a frenzy how they are allowed to get that into any staduim is ludicruse ive seen it on tv why is it not dissmebered
The only fair outcome from any enquiry is to replay the tie and have Celtic play the match without a goalkeeper, also I thought the lad Robinson was outstanding for The The Rangers today…..
